What metrics can you use to evaluate IT professionals' performance?

One thing I've found helpful when considering productivity metrics is to look beyond raw output like lines of code or tasks completed. For example, when we were working with you on one of the airlines projects, we shifted our focus to measure the reusability, sustainability and maintainability of the code, configuration and documents, which provided a more long-term perspective on productivity. This approach not only improved the quality of our work but also fostered a culture where the team felt more valued and motivated.

The IT Metrics for cost, quality, delivery and value can be measured from the inception of any IT project. Organizations can track this in the form of a dashboard which can be accessed by senior management as well. The typical performance measures can be as below (some may be applicable for specific projects only): 1) ROI Committed Vs achieved 2) Revenue Improvement 3) Deviation from the planned Budget for Project execution. 4) Number of end users or customers impacted 5) Number of Quality Issues reported 6) On time delivery as per commitment to management Many organizations have already adopted very systematic way of capturing the IT performance.

It's most difficult metrics to measure. IT employee works to automate and bring efficiency in business operational processes, add new tech capabilities, bring insights and reports, signal processing and decisioning capabilities etc but the impact in terms of revenue, ROI, profitability, customer retention is a complex equation. IT is one of the factors in this equation but not an equation in itself. Think of scenarios, where 10 different organizations have similar product lines in same geography and all of them using latest tech and automation... But still 2 orgs command 80℅ of market and rest 8 surviving with 20℅... Why?

Para uma entrega ter impacto, ela precisa ter qualidade, eficiência e significância. Por exemplo, mais do que apenas quantidade de tickets resolvidos (falando aqui de uma equipe de suporte), é melhor compreender quais os impactos que o problema reportado estava gerando. Logo você conseguirá priorizar melhor os chamados e metrificar melhor os resultados da equipe. Parece difícil, mas você pode aplicar essa filosofia com diversas estratégias, principalmente contando com o apoio das áreas de negócio. Em projetos não é muito diferente, entender as dores que serão resolvidas antes do desenvolvimento do produto do projeto ajudarão a metrificar os resultados posteriormente. Basta se atentar ao monitoramento depois de cada entrega.
