Understand the lithology and talk to the geologist. I was privileged enough early in my career of working on exploration on site and logging core. By working with geologists and having understanding of the rock types and deposit, it greatly can assist in understanding and developing the early metallurgical programs including with geo-metallurgy. This is an area which in my experience opportunities can be often missed.
