Lastly, flexibility allows the conveyor system to adapt to changing production needs, such as different product sizes or layouts.

We have improved cycle time in belt conveyor using VFD and installing proximity sensors to change the speed as required. Repeatability in conveyors can be improved by using position cylinder. One more key point is to avoid overloading the conveyor and maintaining proper belt tension.

This is entirely up to customer preference and application. Usually a good metric to keep an eye out for is weight and volume. Low volume, high weight? Consider steel or Polyurethane rollers. High volume, low weight? Consider belt fed systems!

Self tensioning system, ie gravity take up. Scrapers on drive rolls, changing worn rolls before they cause belt damage, routine inspections. Inspecting the splice on a regular basis is crucial as well.

No matter the system. 2 things must always be done that most companies are either lax or non responsive to. 1. Proper tension at all times 2. Preventive care. This includes regular monthly inspection of the belt medium, all rotating parts, including the drive and idler roll surfaces, bearings, drive gearing, sprockets and chains for wear and proper tensioning These 2 critical things are crucial to unplanned downtime and expensive repairs.
