What are the most popular databases for web development?

Examples: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle These databases organize data into tables with rows and columns, following a structured schema. Well-suited for applications with complex queries and relationships between data. Often used in traditional web applications, content management systems (CMS), e-commerce platforms, and more.

The mind uses a database that is dependent on our internal data mining. I like relational databases because they have been around for several decades and are well-established in the industry. They have undergone extensive development and refinement, resulting in stable and reliable database systems. SQL databases also support transactions, allowing developers to group multiple database operations into a single logical unit. Transactions ensure data consistency and reliability by either committing all changes or rolling back to the previous state in case of failure.

In my experience It all depends on the volume of data you expect to store, is the data infrastructure predefined, specifics to data integrity, and complexity of the relationships, and how you expect the data to evolve. Non Relational databases such as MongoDB can handle large complex systems such as smaller ones, especially when flexible data structures or rapid scaling is needed. Similarly, Relational databases such as SQL are not limited to large systems but are crucial when complex data relationships and transaction integrity are non- negotiable.

Examples: MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase, Redis, Firebase (Firestore) NoSQL databases are more flexible than relational databases and can handle unstructured or semi-structured data. Ideal for handling large amounts of data, especially for real-time web applications and big data analytics. Commonly used in social networks, IoT applications, gaming, and applications with high write loads.

MongoDB is my favourite database in NoSQL databases because it is simple to use and is has high performance. I also like it's flexible document-based data model, which means it can handle data in a more natural way for developers. Documents are similar to JSON objects, allowing for nested data structures and eliminating the need for complex joins typical in relational databases.

Examples: Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service), Google Cloud SQL, Azure SQL Database These are database services provided by cloud providers, offering scalability, high availability, and managed services. Ideal for web applications hosted on cloud platforms, as they simplify database management and scaling. Can be relational or NoSQL databases offered as a service in the cloud environment.

The growth of cloud-native web applications has been phenomenal in recent times. The developers are now focusing on building innovative applications by leveraging the cloud infrastructure. Using cloud databases along with cloud-deployed web applications can improve efficiency and performance. Databases like Firestore provide real-time data synchronization, allowing data to be synchronized across clients in milliseconds.

Examples: Amazon Aurora, YugabyteDB, CockroachDB Hybrid databases combine elements of both relational and NoSQL databases. They offer the flexibility of NoSQL with the relational model's strong consistency and ACID compliance. Suitable for applications that require scalability, high availability, and support for complex data models.

Hybrid databases offer a compelling solution by combining the strengths of both relational and NoSQL databases. With hybrid databases, organizations can enjoy the flexibility and scalability of NoSQL while still leveraging the robustness and structure of relational databases.

Scalability: Ensure the database can scale with the application's growth, either horizontally (adding more servers) or vertically (increasing server capacity).
