With the advent AI and ML, Level 2 autonomous driving features are becoming more capable and dependable with each day. However, systems do have to fall back on a driver in case of unexpected failures in the system. This can be hardware based or software based failures, and drivers need to be ready to take the wheel to prevent incidents. Driver Monitoring Systems are vital to ensure drivers are alert and available to take over in case of such failures. This must be mandated by regulation on cars with Level 2 and 3 Autonomous features to make the roads a safer place.
