What are some effective ways to build relationships with colleagues in different departments?

Be open to listening more than talking. Try to give your opinion in struggling situations and be open to being involved in their hobbies. For example, sport matches are a good initiative to create more intimate links and trust.

Genuineness is the key. Be authentic and curious to know your peers. There is no short cut to build rapport than investing time and efforts.

Displaying genuine appetite to know the person is undoubtedly the foremost step towards building the relationship. Demonstrating attentiveness to their interests, concerns , challenges , choices ,communication and offering helping hand when needed is a great way in paving the path toward the strong relationship. Finding the common interests and collaboration works as icing on the cake. The efforts has to be consistent and genuine towards building trust in relationships .

It is genuinely all about openness, empathy and willingness to listen and support others even when it does not bring a direct benefit to us. One of the key moments in my career is where, for the first time, my section head showed interest in my career development and we connected on a human level.

There is a saying 1000 colors from 1000 individual. But we do understand that the different of this color expression is due to a lot of factor: - education background - working experience - family - friend environment - hobbies So it is important to understand why and how can they show different color. By doing this, i think we can mix the right color (perspective) and create wonderful (winning plan) color for our target.

Collaborating or Team Work is sometimes a little bit underrated process. We simplify the process by saying meeting together or working together toward some objective. But during the business process transformation, i found out it should be more than working or discussing together. But it is about understanding whole business process and find loophole that we should improve together. Start with aligning our objective with each members on same peer and then you will need to find out if any misalignment with 1 layer below you and your peers. Time consuming process but it will bring the best result.

It is not always easy to build a successful and functional team: we all say we are great at working in teams during our recruitment process but what does it mean? It requires vulnerability, and openness to new ideas but also the ability to identify conflicting opinions, acknowledge them, and move from there to finding common ground.

Noticing their voice during work or showing genuine interest toward their idea in work is wonderful thing. But as a human being, sometimes we need to pay attention toward their personal life event as well. Saying happy bday or joining them during lunch and participate in company activities are some method that is effective to know better your working environment. This is definitely it. Maintain a system to be in touch, the best advice I have gotten is treat your network like your invest. You start with investing in index funds, then go to individualize stock. It's the same with networking, go to public function first, and then personalize. Funny, they are really related in a way .

Few other points to be considered - 1. Find commonalities and define grounds of raising respectful differences. 2. Personal relationships should not be impacted due to professional differences 3. Collaborate to create larger impact than debating on minor differences.
