What are tips for presenting as a team?

Few insights: ~ Do forward planning of (un)expected outcomes ~ Structure your presentation ~ Rehearse it at least few times to iron out flaws, establish pacing and convey the desired message ~ Keep it simple and to the point ~ Content is the king, form gives it necessary shine ~ Communicate with teammates on all relevant topics ~ Slay it

In addition to the others valuable contribution, I believe that each team member presenting needs to be knowledgeable, confident, and have experience in the respective topic that they are presenting which will further support collaboration and engagement with the audience.

A good way to ensure that is to have mock sessions. Before any presentation, do make sure that the entire team does at least five to six rounds of practice. Furthermore, do make sure that there's a back up presenter if in case any team member is unable to present.

Communicate effectively with each other. It is important to communicate effectively with each other throughout the presentation process. This includes sharing ideas, providing feedback, and resolving any conflicts that may arise. Be supportive of each other. Everyone on the team should be supportive of each other. This means being encouraging, offering help when needed, and celebrating each other's successes. Have fun! Team presentations can be a lot of fun. Enjoy the process of working together and delivering a great presentation.

Bring in your personality! Whenever my team and I are presenting, especially during onboarding and training content we make a list of "Maryisms" which is a list of taglines that I often use. It really helps to loosen up your content and highlight your personal style.

Transitions in public speaking are just as important as a smooth handover of the baton in a relay. Introducing the member that will follow you at the end of your speech while handing over a mic, or space on a podium provides a nice soft hand over for the audience to follow.

Being on point with the timing is an essential on presenting, reasons being: 1. Getting the message across in a crisp manner as soon as possible. 2. Many people don’t enjoy longer meetings and tend to lose attention and interest in the presentation. 3. Sometimes the clients might come from a structure wherein you are judged basis the completion of the presentation within the time provided for presentation.

Never ever use red for fonts because this color is so difficult to see in presentations. Minimal text works best as you build your story. Busy, complicated visuals are never recommended. If you use a graph ensure that it has a title and the axes are labelled, and that your audience can actually read it no matter where they are seated. Presentation software typically has a zoom in feature to highlight important points on a slide to help engage the focus for your audience.

I recommend that ONE team member does the slides. Each submits what they want for their part of the presentation - that way they slides all look consistent

I like having one member of the team create the final slides. Each member forwards a draft of what they want, butt if one person is doing the final edit it will be more likely to be uniform. Nothing as hating as slides obviously created be different people!

It is extremely important to know your audience. For example, if the subject matter literacy is high with your audience, and you speak at too low a level wasting time on basic concepts they will disengage. Using a story that you know your audience can relate to can help create an empathetic experience to keep people engaged. They will want to hear more as each team member builds the story. Sometimes introducing a small, yet meaningful artifact or prop can help increase engagement as you present. It can be handed off, or left and referred back to when appropriate as members take turns speaking.

Never let whatever tech you're using degrade your audience's experience. We've all seen those epic presentation tech fails. Don't be that team whose remembered for a tech glitch, and not their presentation's content.
