Since this topic is about "designing" I have to mention this: Architecture design is not same as architecture drafting. The former is a flowing river. The latter (drafting) is about taking snapshots of that river. When you talk about architecture design software, you need something that allows the to-and-fro iterations, the movement from haziness to clarity, the capability to quickly create alternatives, check each alternatives and so on. I am a 63 yr old architect + software designer. I wrote one of the oldest designing software (TAD teamtad.com) It allows modeling of architecture for all aspects of the architecture design process. It allows for very quick 3D previews of the ongoing design. Add attributes just-in-time and iterate.
