If you’re just starting out or on a budget there is absolutely no shame at all in opting for the often cheaper usb mic. There’s also the highly desirable trait of being able to directly plug in and play with a laptop or tower without the need to purchase extra equipment like pre-amps or outboard compressors. Most if not everyone who does even a small amount of research will come across a blue yeti mic or its equivalent and it’s a fantastic mic to start your production with. Just remember that you will still need to set a gain level (which is not the same as volume, that’s how loud a sound is played back to you when you plug in headphones) before recording and you’ll still need to probably edit your audio afterwards to cut out mistakes.
