To train your team to manage inventory obsolescence, start by emphasizing the importance of regular stock audits and monitoring product lifecycle stages. Teach them how to identify slow-moving items early through sales data analysis and forecasting trends. Encourage proactive measures, such as rotating stock, to ensure older items are sold first. Implement a system for flagging obsolete products and setting guidelines for timely markdowns, returns, or donations. Regularly review inventory performance and provide ongoing training to ensure your team is equipped to prevent and address obsolescence effectively.

What worked for my team and I was the following. 1. We created a system everyone one understood and made everyone responsible for rotating inventory. (Somethings you can see is honestly the best practice.) 2. Each person would trade weeks, who was responsible for inventory and ordering. 3. I made them apart of the gain. Good inventory at the end of each quarter would grant some kind of bonus. This was helpful in showing each one of them the importance of inventory, team work, outcome, and accomplishment. When a well driven plan is put into place and followed through the whole team wins.
