If the slides don't appear, I'll shift the focus to narrative and audience participation. It's like being a magician: if the trick fails, you pull a rabbit out of the hat instead! I'll mix in anecdotes, humor, and invite the audience to join in the fun. Perhaps they won't notice the slides, but they'll be captivated by the narrative. The slides may be missing, but I'll keep the show going with some of my own magic—because, at the end of the day, the connection is what makes the speech.

-
Engage with eye contact: Focus on building a personal connection by making eye contact with your audience. This shows confidence and keeps them engaged, even without visuals. Use storytelling: People remember stories better than facts. Share a compelling personal story or case study related to your topic to hold their attention.

Whenever you can, have hand-outs in advance. When that did not happen and the technical issue still impacts, remain calm and connect with the audience: Open with clear and simple sratements (rather than data points that the lack of slides are not supporting). Be open, transparent and engaging by being as simple as possible to share the main message, while the technical issue is resolved. Maintain a positive attitude, as having a technical issue is common, and can happen again. Ask openly and engage the audience back for input, make them a participant in your unplanned open forum. When the slides come back, take with positivism and project the message from a clear open stage without the stress of what was not said.

If your slides aren't showing up during your speech, you can still keep your audience engaged by using the following strategies: Engage with Storytelling, Use Verbal Emphasis, Involve the Audience, Use Hand Gestures and Body Language, Use Visual Descriptions, Use Props or Physical Demonstrations, Stay Calm and Confident, Use the Space, Offer Handouts or Follow-Up Material and Leverage Technology for example. By maintaining your focus on the content and connecting with the audience directly, you can ensure that your presentation remains impactful, even without visuals.
