En mi experiencia, comprender las reglas del espacio aéreo es crucial antes de volar un dron, especialmente con la normativa de AESA en España. Consultar mapas específicos del espacio aéreo con herramientas como ENAIRE.DRONES es esencial para evitar zonas restringidas y planificar rutas seguras. Obtener permisos necesarios de AESA para vuelos en áreas restringidas o a gran altitud es fundamental. Planificar la ruta con antelación utilizando software especializado optimiza la seguridad y eficiencia. Comunicar los planes de vuelo a las autoridades locales y monitorear las condiciones en tiempo real garantiza un vuelo seguro y legal.

First Check for local Regulations: Begin by researching the specific regulations of the country or region where you plan to fly. For example, in India, the DGCA governs airspace with regulations that classify zones where drone flights may be restricted or prohibited as red zones. There are no-fly zones, near airport, military establishments and some critical areas of national interest. One must be aware of these zones, apart from this there are dynamic no-fly zones, which is temporary and declared from time to time, based on the requirements. One must also be aware of general airspace restriction in terms of altitude, range and geo fence criteria.

Inorder to understand the no-fly and yellow zones (where drone flight is permitted with a necessary permissions), one must be aware of their respective country's digital airspace maps. Like in India, DGCA has Digital sky Airspace map, where the zones are updated from time to time. Any other flight restrictions and temporary advisories must also be thoroughly understood, by checking NOTAMS at regular intervals.

Consultar mapas específicos del espacio aéreo es una práctica indispensable. Utilizo herramientas que están adaptadas a la normativa de AESA. En un proyecto reciente cerca de Madrid, los mapas mostraban zonas rojas alrededor del aeropuerto de Barajas, indicando áreas de exclusión aérea, y zonas amarillas que requerían permisos adicionales. Gracias a estas herramientas, pude identificar corredores seguros y planificar rutas alternativas, evitando restricciones y asegurando la conformidad con las regulaciones. Esta planificación detallada no solo me ayudó a evitar sanciones, sino que también garantizó la seguridad y eficiencia de mis vuelos, permitiéndome concentrarme en la misión en lugar de preocuparme por posibles infracciones.

De sobra hay que destacar que planificar la ruta de vuelo es esencial. Antes de un proyecto en zona urbana, revisé todas las regulaciones de AESA y obtuve los permisos necesarios. Trazo mi ruta cuidadosamente, evitando zonas restringidas y considerando rutas alternativas por si necesito cambiar el rumbo. Por ejemplo, siempre tengo en cuenta las condiciones del viento y posibles obstáculos como edificios altos. Esta planificación meticulosa ha sido clave para minimizar riesgos y asegurar vuelos sin contratiempos, permitiéndome concentrarme en la tarea sin preocuparme por problemas inesperados

One must continuously monitor the weather from a verified source, to keep check on the visibilty and if there is any temporary advisories or flight restrictions. If a drone is equipped with ADS-B active/passive transponders, then one must keep an eye on the surrounding UAV's/manned aircrafts flying in the proximity, so as to avoid interfering their planned way path.

En ciertas operaciones es necesario comunicar la intención de vuelo. Recuerdo un proyecto en las proximidades de un aeródromo. Antes de despegar, notifiqué a la torre de control local sobre mi plan de vuelo. Esta comunicación proactiva ha sido clave para evitar malentendidos y posibles colisiones. Además, mantener un contacto constante con otros usuarios del espacio aéreo asegura un entorno de vuelo más seguro y coordinado, permitiéndome operar con mayor confianza y tranquilidad.

A pre-flight checklist is mandatory before any flight. One must look for some critical parameters like: Weather conditions, health of all the sub-systems (battery, sensors, electrical harness, GPS/ Mag interference etc. A pilot should be aware of medical emergency protocols in the case of mishap or crash land, his own situational awareness is very important mid-flight. A post -flight checklist is also equally important as the pre-flight, where the pilot is expected to perform some basic sensor functional tests, and then check for the wear tear of motors, dirt accumulation on propellers, if any must cleaned before packing, so the drone is safe before next flight.
