In mineral exploration, especially undercover knowing what you are going to drill into is not possible. On a project you are more likely to start with best practices, focus attention and the equipment, and experience of drilling. Depending on what is encountered there are different strategies that can be used. It can be incredibly stressful to get a hole down, or encounter and get through a dyke, only to quickly encounter another. The bottom line is drilling strategies will adjust based on the experience encountered in the project and not as a result of geological siesmic surveys ect.
