One of the things that was observed by me during my personal interaction with my manager was the habit of performing multi tasking while speaking to my manager. This was a serious problem as it was thought that full attention was not being paid to the Manager. Inorder to overcome such problems, always carry a diary , put proper dates and the agenda of the meeting. Be attentive, stop the internet connection on your mobile. Note down all the points. Have a clear and concise discussion with no open ended points. Always keep things mentioned in an Email. Always go into the meeting fully prepared with the points to be discussed. These points will help build trust between both the parties.
