One thing I have found very useful (as a export sales manager) is teaching the customer to give the right priorities: it is not necessary to call to ask for confirmation of the arrival of the email; it is superfluous to ask for estimates by phone if you need calculations or opinions from colleagues; it is not necessary to organize online meetings to "reread" the emails. Many of the things that the customer asks on the phone can be managed by email but above all calmly: phone calls (which are always welcome) can be used for urgent matters and for clarifications and to avoid misunderstandings (here they are fundamental!)
