You’re a Higher Education administrator. How can you use creativity to promote entrepreneurship?

I would use creativity to promote entrepreneurship as follows; -Field visits to changemakers/enterprises/industries, to listen to their experience. -Invite members of the Entrepreneurship Community of Practice, for talks/sharing. -Diversified theoretical and practical entrepreneurship courses. -Award and recognition/spurring innovations. -Engage stakeholders' support (PPPs) -Use various marketing communication channels to target audiences. -Sharing of success stories, benchmarking, exchange programs, role-modelling, influencers use, diaspora cross-sharing, etc. - Cross-cultural best practices sharing

Incorporate interdisciplinary courses and programs that blend fields such as business, technology, design, and social sciences. Encouraging students to explore diverse disciplines can spark innovative thinking and foster entrepreneurship. For instance, a program that combines engineering and business can equip students with both technical skills and entrepreneurial acumen, enabling them to develop innovative solutions and launch startups. Personal Experience: At our university, we introduced a joint program between the engineering and business schools, where students work in interdisciplinary teams on real-world projects.

As a higher education administrator, fostering entrepreneurship involves integrating it across various courses. Entrepreneurship is more than a skill; it's a mindset of problem-solving, continuous innovation, and embracing failure as part of the learning process. Encouraging students to connect diverse disciplines helps cultivate creative solutions. By instilling resilience and adaptability, students can navigate challenges and drive innovation. Through this approach, entrepreneurship becomes ingrained as a transversal skill essential for success in any field.

Dramatic inquiry comprehends several approaches that lead to the development of critical thinking. Edularping, Mantle of the Expert, the comission model, debate theatre amongst them. Theatre motivates to explore issues from several perspectives allowing to incorporate several disciplinary fields. Fictional frame offers security so as to allow participants to explore and take risks without the fear of doing real harm and frequently finding new solutions. Foster an environment where experimentation is encouraged and failure is viewed as a valuable learning experience. Provide platforms for students to test their ideas, gather feedback, and iterate. Emphasize the importance of resilience and adaptability in the entrepreneurial journey. Personal Experience: We established a "Startup Sandbox" initiative, where students are provided with resources and mentorship to prototype and test their business ideas. Regular feedback sessions and pitch competitions help them refine their concepts and develop viable business models.

Applied improvisation fosters most of the competencies required not only for entrepreneurship, also those required to navigate our present global challenges. Rooted in improv principles, 4 pillars guide and model performer’s thinking. Only by actively listening performers can comprehend the proposal of their partners on a non scripted scene. Only by doing feedback would a scene will develop. Accepting the others offerings and by enriching them will an improvised scene will flourish. These and other core principles are what applied improvisation takes on to aid individuals and other disciplines in improving and developing competencies to face complex challenges and contexts.

Offer support for extracurricular and co-curricular activities such as entrepreneurship clubs, hackathons, and innovation challenges. These platforms provide students with opportunities to network, collaborate, and hone their entrepreneurial skills outside the classroom. Personal Experience: Our university hosts an annual Entrepreneurship Summit, bringing together students, alumni, and industry experts for workshops, panel discussions, and startup pitches. This event has become a hub for fostering entrepreneurial spirit and connecting aspiring entrepreneurs with valuable resources.

Allowing the extracurricular meet the curricular. Much is wasted when extracurricular is seen as a hobby, at best, when not, a waste of time. Many life required competencies convey in the extracurricular, i.e., from sports one can learn to overcome self perceived limitations or teamwork; in arts one can learn critical thinking, complex reasoning, problem solving and even mathematical thinking! When curricular meets extracurricular in significant activities, their synergy leads to promote the finding of deep purpose which echoes in giving participants life meaning and deep commitment. As well as teaching the value of the intangible and process oriented progress.

Acknowledge and celebrate creative achievements in entrepreneurship through awards, grants, and competitions. Recognizing entrepreneurial endeavors not only motivates students but also showcases the university's commitment to nurturing innovation. Personal Experience: We established an Entrepreneurship Excellence Award to recognize outstanding student entrepreneurs who demonstrate creativity, resilience, and impact. This recognition not only celebrates their achievements but also inspires other students to pursue entrepreneurship.

Forge partnerships with external organizations, startups, and community stakeholders to provide students with access to mentorship, funding, and real-world opportunities. Engaging with the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem exposes students to diverse perspectives and resources. Personal Experience: Our university collaborates with local incubators, accelerators, and industry partners to offer internship programs, mentorship opportunities, and seed funding for student startups. These partnerships enrich the entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus and provide students with invaluable support.

Offer workshops, seminars, and training programs focused on entrepreneurship skills such as ideation, business model canvas, pitching, and fundraising. Equipping students with practical knowledge and tools empowers them to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship successfully. Personal Experience: We developed an Entrepreneurship Bootcamp series, where experienced entrepreneurs and industry professionals deliver hands-on workshops on topics ranging from lean startup methodology to market validation. These sessions equip students with actionable insights and empower them to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations confidently.
