I reckon this is a great topic. Is better to ask something crazy on the right timing than ask something obvious on the wrong one. Choose a context where you have privacy with your manager or boss and also where the decision making board is also present (or at least some representative). Try to bring out the subject after you've been proven useful to the company which must give you the righful value for it.
