He/she recognizes failures as opportunities for growth and will work to avoid them by developing new skills and seeking advice when necessary.

I agree to focus on lessons learned. The failure isn't important. What's important is what came after. How did you handle the failure? What did you learn from it? What do you do differently now? If you can talk about those three things, you'll impress your interviewers. Bonus points if you can show off your EQ. Talk about every mistake or failure as a learning opportunity. And make sure you talk about how you avoid repeating them.
