A mentor is a must in just about any profession and especially in the music industry if you’re trying to make a career out of it. We often turn to our friends, spouse, neighbors and friends for advice not understanding that although they might love and care for us, they do not and will not offer you the best advice for your career. You have to ask directions from those who have been to the destination you’re trying to get to. A great mentor will often see themselves in you and will help you to not waste your precious time, help present you with opportunities you might of never had otherwise and most importantly help to keep you on your path and not give up.

IMO a mentor is someone: - That you respect - Admire their work - Value their feedback - That you can learn from - Who has something to bring you And not last, someone you have something to bring to. The Mentor-Mentee relationship is a two-way road.
