One of my students struggled with shortening their copy. I'd see multiple intros and headlines in their work and had to remind them to write for the reader's convenience. I was convinced it'd be a challenge to improve this issue, but the next homework already showed progress. They explained their process and turns out, they decided to concentrate on one issue at a time, even though they still had other errors in their writing. That's how they fixed this one issue. THIS is what could help you with your writing issues: - Write down all the errors you make when writing - Research the solutions for each - Start by improving only one at a time If you're lucky to have a professional writer friend nearby, ask them to assess your work.

Take stock of what you're good at in writing (e.g., creativity, grammar) and areas you struggle with (e.g., clarity, structure). For instance, you might excel at crafting engaging headlines but find it challenging to maintain a clear flow in longer pieces.

Writing about subjects that are less business-oriented is often easier than incorporating technical details and maintaining a professional tone. You can express your thoughts and ask ChatGPT questions such as, "Can you enhance the professionalism of this?" Once you receive the formatted response, you can infuse it with your unique voice and edit it to suit your own style.

Assessing own strengths and weakness can be difficult. Always seek advice from a friend, colleague or an expert. Moreover, at the initial stages one can self assess through various online tools and softwares. Moreover, social media posts also offers a quick and reliable way for self-assessment.

LinkedIn is a great place to start assessing others. - Analyze their content - Take a close look at the post engagement and the language commenters use - What do you like about their writing? - How does it differ from your writing? - What kind of intros and headlines attract more attention? Etc. 👉🏻 Have a separate bookmark for inspirational writing work you can scroll through when looking for the answers.

It is important to learn from those who have written the kind of writing you want to write. They have the experience and you can use their works as guides.

Study the work of renowned copywriters or authors in your niche. Analyze their writing style, techniques, and strategies they employ to capture attention and convey messages effectively. For example, dissecting the copywriting techniques of successful brands like Apple or Nike could offer valuable insights.

Write daily. Be it good, bad, sh...t, something in between. Just keep writing. That's the only way to polish and develop writing skill. Also, start reading books. A good reader knows how to write. Read books, both fiction and non-fiction.

🙌🏻 I will never get tired of recommending journaling for writers. Yes, journaling is a great way to process your emotions and let go of the frustrations, BUT... It's also a terrific method of practicing writing. Here's what I do when I want to practice my writing outside of client projects: - I choose a specific topic or an event in my life I'd like to discuss with someone - I imagine I have a certain audience to discuss this subject with - I write out my emotions, thoughts, and the details of the event - I re-read the work and improve errors, issues, and tautologies - If I see room for improvement, I follow it - I re-read it once again. This time, out-loud And Voila!

My best advice would be to come fully prepared for the act of writing. Don't try to improvise in front of an intimidating blank Word document; start writing only after you're 100% certain about what you want to write. Beforehand, you can write your thoughts and ideas uncontrollably and uninhibitedly, or even record yourself speaking about the subject. You can then create a document, including in it all your many thoughts, slowly organizing them into different sub-themes, and structuring your presentation. When you're structuring, think of it as a story that you tell your readers, one that has a beginning and an end. How would you guide them intelligently toward a point in which they become truly enlightened by what you have to say?

By consistently practicing, you'll refine your skills and develop a natural rhythm in your writing. This could involve setting aside specific writing sessions or journaling daily.

Stepping away from a piece and revisiting it later will give you fresh eyes and a new perspective. Sometimes, you'll make tons of changes. Other times, you'll realize that you nailed it.

After drafting a piece, take the time to review and revise it. Look for areas where you can improve clarity, eliminate redundancy, and strengthen your message. For instance, you might refine your copy by removing unnecessary words or restructuring sentences to enhance readability.

Based on my experience as a writer, feedback plays a crucial role in more ways than one. It not only helps in improving your skill set but also provides the scope for developing a distance from your writing which allows you to view it critically. There have been many instances when another writer’s feedback on my piece brings before me a fresh perspective of interpreting my work. Apart from this, while editing a piece, considering the feedback that you’ve received has proven to be effective. Be mindful of how this is done. Ridiculing, insulting or discouraging someone should never be the purpose of your feedback. There exists a fine line between trolling somebody and providing them feedback.

One thing I've discovered teaching writing for four years is that all you really need is a little help. I've taught newbie and professional writers. I've taken writing courses myself. And I've come to realize what we pay for are the services and products to guide us to write.

You know what you mean others don't. By having a fresh set of eyes on your writing, you learn how clear your words are. Ask people smarter than you for help.

Practising might not be easy if you don't have a writing background or experience. Stephen King said "If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that." Start with that. Read more. But also, think of writing as a task, one that you need to do. Clock in, clock off. Every day.

Don't hesitate to consult AI software, but only after you've written your own draft. If you ask the software to suggest one or two revisions of your draft, it might aid you in expanding your vocabulary and writing approach. You can also ask it to reorganize the text in a more flowing way, since the flow of presentation—how you lead your reader through a process of revelation and insight—is the essence of writing.

Always explore additional resources such as online courses, books on writing craft, or workshops to deepen your understanding and hone your skills further. Experiment with new writing techniques, tools, or platforms to expand your repertoire as a copywriter.
