I find the versatility of an authoring tool intriguing. The ability to craft diverse, interactive learning content, from e-learning courses to simulations and games, appears to offer a dynamic approach to education. Moreover, the emphasis on compatibility with various devices and adherence to industry standards suggests a commitment to accessibility and regulatory compliance, enhancing the overall effectiveness of training materials.

I agree that being able to video conference is essential in doing any sort of training. Meetings with people as when need arises as well as for specific purposes including training, are enhanced when communication can be multimodal rather than one form (written or spoken). Being able to see another person allows for more authentic connection and in a context such as ours, when travel between towns can take hours or days, interstate connection through video conference is pivotal.

Gamification can be super effective in humanizing workplace training, when it is used purposefully and with intent - too many bells and whistles and learners will feel infantalized. Take a video game, not every video game will have the same type of gameplay - why? Because each game is appealing to certain type of gamer. The game is designed to satisfy a certain type of interaction. Gamification in learning can in turn learn from this industry design.

I haven’t seen an example of gamification used in training or ongoing professional learning when context and relationships are core aspects of service and improvement. I have used it for fun in learning delivery and I am curious as to how I could meaningfully develop gamification as an aspect of delivery.

Gamification principles is the use and application of game elements and principles to teaching, learning and in this case training. These principles include, mastery, levels, points, leaderboards, badges etc. I use these as motivation, and to increase interest in employee training. So sometimes I can do “fastest fingers”, this motivates employees to work through the task quickly and move to the next phase. I can use badges, to motivate exceptional participants and everyone to do better. Rather than use a particular software, I many times create my own gamification elements and use them in training.

Additionally, I have always enjoyed designing shared virtual workspaces, such as with Miro and Lucid, to provide an 'all hands on deck' feel and promote collaborative activities inclusive of remote learners.

Educator experience and knowledge in Google Suite and Microsoft Teams are crucial for several reasons. From my experience the best tool for helping develop and train people is a survey/questionnaire tool. Actually ask what people want to learn about, how they best learn and how best to make that happen. By asking these questions to offers a rich data set to draw on to engage your learners. Time is a very precious commodity and no-one wants to waste it, so by engaging learners in exactly what and how they learn, helps to ensure the training starts on the right pathway.
