One little thing that's helped: I've removed Slack from my phone. If something is urgent you can call me. Otherwise I'll deal with it during normal business hours.

What will sustain success in the longer term is a delicate balance between the fast-moving music industry and personal well-being. Note that ambition and hustle are cool, but your health-both physical and mental-is what must take precedence. Self-care, setting boundaries, and making time for rest will fuel creativity and give you the drive that you need to succeed. I think it's about finding a rhythm that supports your career and your peace of mind at the same time. It's not only about reaching that next milestone, but it's about building a sustainable journey. And I am so ready now to place my well-being first. Everything else is built on that.

As a family person in the music industry, setting some personal rules have helped me maintain time for family amidst the demands of the industry. And I made sure my family knows those rules so they keep me accountable. One example of those rules is "no work related stuff between 7pm and 10pm everyday" So I spend those hours with my family. Many times I'm tempted to be in my home studio at those times, but they will often remind me, "it's family time". Also, you need to tell yourself there's more to your life than just your career in the music industry. Find other ways to interact with and give to the society, outside your career. It could be volunteering once a month in a non-profit organization or mentoring someone. These things help.

Time Management: Schedule “deep work” time for creative flow and block off separate slots for admin tasks. Protecting these creative blocks ensures you’re always moving forward musically. Mental Health: Create a weekly “tech-free day” where you disconnect from socials and emails. Use this time to focus on hobbies or spend time with loved ones. This reset can boost your creativity. Financial Stability: Set up a “pay yourself first” system, where a portion of your income automatically goes into savings or investment accounts before you spend on anything else. Setting Goals: Keep a visual reminder of your goals, like a vision board or a digital tracker, to stay inspired and focused on your long-term objectives.
