I am indeed considered an older worker in travel and tourism being a baby boomer generation. Yes, many things have changed and with advanced technology and the web - many operational work can be completed faster and information needed quickly sourced and found. There is no running away, just have to embrace the changes, learn, pick it up and go with the flow. It is either that or be redundant or worse, early retirement! I do not think that "old dogs cannot learn new tricks" just to use a phrase. It is a matter of want to or just too tired, stressed, choose not to. If an older worker can still be active on social media, then wanting to learn will be handy as social media becomes part of business nowadays.

This goes without saying. We may be in the trade earlier and more experienced and have great expertise in the trade but if one cannot perform using technology, then it is just being "left behind" as clients too embrace the changes and expects likewise from suppliers / vendors / agents. So we must acknowledge our "younger" peers who are more savvy in using technology and seek them out to guide, coach and show us. If the culture of team work is innate in the company, and where both strengths and weaknesses of each team member is recognised, then sharing from both parties can only help to elevate each team member and then collectively be a winning team.
