The first thing that came to mind is the importance of being able to understand the whole system within an organisation. Communicating clearly is imperative and yet so many of us don't know how to do it. It is clear to us, so we assume others understand, and that is usually NOT the case. IN order to communicate clearly, one must understand her audience - who am I speaking with? How do they communicate? What is their style and how do they best learn? Then, we tailor our communication (body language, words, images, etc.) to fit their learning and communication style. Once that is created, then ask the audience what they understood you to say... Having them tell you what they understood from you will help you understand whether you are communicating effectively or not. Practice makes progress!!!!!

Feedback is absolutely critical and it needs to be constructive, and conscientious. Constructive criticism is key, but it needs to be realistic and be conscious of the person’s needs. Some people like it upfront and transparent and others need it slightly more supportive and an executive coach needs to help you understand when to use which strategy.

Feedback has a role in career. My simple approaches, well it does get deep are; 1. If you dont understand the feedback or criticism, ask for details. 2. If not entirely true, factual, acknowledge what is factual, and reject the rest, or ask for details, eg, John, I am aware of the delay on xxxx, but I dont recall you pointing to any errors in my reports last 6 months. Please share details. 3. If overwhelmingly true, acknowledge, apologies, seek support 4. Learn from the criticism and improve 5. Feedback and criticism have positive and negative aspects, depending on how they are provides. Keep emotions away, focus on issue. 6. Always respond to issue, and provide solutions and seek help, eg, An additional hand will help in deliveries.

As a former collegiate basketball player, nothing is more important than feedback. It truly is the key to self-improvement and self-correction. When get the feedback on your free-throw and you integrate that information into your practice and get results, it's easy to be open to more. But when they are not present to get the feedback, you know what steps to take to evaluate your performance and improve. A growth mindset will always outperform a fixed mindset.

Regular practice helps in developing you memory muscle, reducing anxiety, building your on confidence and refining your approach. the practice can be through role playing or standing in front of a mirror and watching out on your body language. Lastly you can enlist a friend initially to give you feedback till you have the basics to take it a step further

I'm exhausted just reading the question. I wish I could tell the women and non-binary folks I'm coaching to just go and be their best selves. But that doesn't work for so many of us. The corporate world loses so much innovation, productivity, and genuinely great leaders because they aren't nurturing cultures where everyone can truly thrive. Instead, my clients have to redirect too much of their energy and time to mitigating the problems created by the culture. Yes, we can do it. Yes, there are techniques. But I can clearly see how much MORE we would all be without these distractions.

Recognise the power in your difference. Often, not fitting the dominant category or being different causes us to see the disadvantages and we perceive others may see that disadvantage too (which may be true). However, that is a perspective. The alternative perspective is the difference adds value and should therefore be leveraged. With regard to how others see the difference, we can take responsibility to support those who see the difference as a weakness to begin to see it as a strength. The important thing is we must believe it first.
