Be a culture where people believe what they do matters, that they make a difference and it's noticed and rewarded.

Empathy starts with humility. We often have a false sense of our importance and impact on any relationship and that causes unfair expectations and enormous blindspots when it comes to having a balanced and measured view of our teams. When we recognize our own limitations and short comings, we must acknowledge that often (maybe too often) our leadership is the core of what may be out of sync. Empathy causes us to dig deeper and understand the problem and the process while taking care of the people.

Leadership is an evolving skill. I make it a priority to stay updated with the latest trends, strategies, and theories in leadership by attending workshops, enrolling in courses, and reading extensively on the subject.Engaging with seasoned leaders and peers through mentorship and networking allows me to gain valuable insights, advice, and support. These interactions often provide practical knowledge that can't be found in books.Regularly reflecting on my actions, decisions, and their outcomes helps me understand my strengths and areas for improvement. I keep a journal of my leadership experiences to track my progress and learn from my mistakes.

Every single person on the team has ideas. Every. Single. One. Some good. Some great. Some horrible. But there's only so many times you can say "no" to a team member before they shut down. There are three words I encourage leaders to use regularly when an idea is presented to them......................TELL ME MORE! You'll be amazed at the dialog.

So it is important to educate yourself with communication skills. I have attended Heartful Communication and NVC ( Non Violent Communication) and it has helped me as a senior executive. By honing my communication skills, I can convey information that is heard and understood, while at the same time, I can foster a culture of transparency, trust and cooperation within my team. One of the key aspects of being a successful leader is utilize your ability to set a clear vision for your team. A vision serves as a guiding light, inspiring and aligning team members towards a common goal. This clarity has helped me to create a sense of purpose and direction among team members, motivating them to work towards a shared vision.

Communication is the most important ingredient for success. We need to pay attention to the following points: 1. Communication is the response we get. 2. The body language and tone must be in sync with the verbal communication. 3. When you communicate is writing , share your suggestions in point. The readers normally do not miss the points. 4.Also explain what , why , when and where in order to make points crystal clear. 5. Take feedback in order to ensure that the sender and receiver are on the same page.

Don’t just learn a bunch of ideas 💡 and fail to implement them. Each year add 1 or 2 things you learn to your life. By doing so you can teach others along the way. If all you do is read the books 📚 they become shelf help, not self help . Applied knowledge is Power. It’s not enough to give the message, We MUST BE the message.

Continue to learn from experience. To practice the seminars you have attended, fail from testing various approaches, and moving forward using the lessons you learned from people and events.

Before you truly understand yourself - your values, what gives you energy, what drains you and your boundaries you cannot truly lead others well. With self-awareness comes self-compassion, which leads to compassion for others and understanding of both what motivates people to engage or disconnect. Knowing yourself (and acting with integrity) makes you more trustworthy and reliable to those you lead.

In order for us to become good leaders we must first learn to be good followers. Followers of the guidance that lies within us. Followers of our emotions by allowing, acknowledging and accepting what we are feeling. So we can become emotionally intelligent. Emotional intelligence not only creates good leaders but revolutionaries. Following is an essential ingredient that is a seldom talked about. Every leader should have a personal board consisting of a mentor, a sponsor, a coach and a friend. Mentor will help in giving advice and direction in subject domain of the leader. The sponsor ( usually a senior leader in the same organisation) will advocate the case of the leader and is vested in the leader’s success. The coach will help the leader build appropriate behaviours. Finally, a friend is indispensable to share one’s joys and sorrows.
