Here's what I'd do as a leader looking to implement AI: 1. Train my team to understand and be confident in the basics. 2. Take on small projects to grow that confidence and their capabilities. 3. Establish a feedback loop to see what works, what doesn't and where they need help. 4. Have my team start to begin implementing AI into their workflows. 5. Continuously look for opportunities to keep the learning going to prevent stagnation.

Placing a question mark at the end of a prompt is NOT using AI. Critical thinking, understanding of pre-disposed biases and the ability to scaffold an input framework BEFORE even asking for the final output from AI is understanding and truly using AI. How often have you heard, "What do you search for in Google, I don't get those results?" The skill of asking a question is not just the placement on a question mark. Prioritizing curiosity, deep learning and the art of the question will keep your teams in-step with AI technology.

Making AI strategic decisions is particularly challenging for multiple reasons. First, while the technology shows incredible potential, we are still early in understanding how to make it work in the real world. And third, availability of AI quality data is far from consistent, and any strategic decision must include not only what can the technology do, but also do we have the data needed to achieve that objective. This score guides where to focus AI adoption efforts and where preparatory work is needed.

As a strategist, my experience has proven, time and again and across international borders, that the famous "PESTEL" or the "STEEP" Model is a time tested approach for strategic decision making.
