Here's how you can drive innovation in your organization as a Senior Stakeholder Manager using technology.

Leverage AI to find partners! I worked with a small nonprofit to find potential partners for a waterway improvement project, and supplemented my own online search with a Chat GPT ask.

It is also crucial to establish effective communication channels that allow all team members to express their ideas and concerns about new technologies. Continuous collaboration and feedback are essential for identifying opportunities and quickly resolving potential issues. Additionally, providing adequate training and resources for everyone to adapt to technological changes will help minimize resistance and maximize the successful adoption of innovations. In this way, you not only promote an open mindset but also ensure a work environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute to the transformation process.

Challenge people to try and figure out ways to incorporate new technology / systems into your roadmaps for change. The key is to ease in change in a way that doesn't overwhelm people. Things shouldn't change so much that they have a leaning curve that causes them to fall behind on current work and feel pressured.

It's so important to be actually embracing change in your organisation, rather than just talking about it. You need to constantly be looking how to improve things - whether it is at a very micro level, or whether it may change how the whole company works. Encourage your team to look at existing processes and workflows. Are there ways to do this better / faster using technology, such as AI? When you have identified elements you can change, make sure to talk about it in wider forums, including to senior stakeholders, so that these ideas can trickle into other parts of the organisation.

Fostering a culture of trust and openness is vital in collaborative environments. Encourage team members to freely share their insights and experiment with new ideas without fear of failure. As a Senior Stakeholder Manager, lead by example in promoting transparency and inclusivity in all collaborative efforts. Regularly review and update the collaboration tools to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the team. By doing so, you not only enhance the effectiveness of these platforms but also reinforce a culture where innovation is a continuous and shared journey.

Create wikis and other collaborative tools for people to share ideas. Put together teams that can brainstorm and experiment with new tech.

I am a big believer in collaboration and transparency. Share what your team is doing more widely (as long as it's not confidential), and seek feedback from other teams. If you have had a success in your team using technology, share what happened with humility, and offer to help others if it may be useful for them. If you've discovered a tool that has helped your team (in my case the Risk team) with a workflow, look around you and see what other teams would benefit. On the flipside, if you've seen another team do something efficiently, ask them to give you a teach in. Make sure that your junior team is seeing this and part of this. I have often found cross team working groups are great to foster innovation and collaboration.

Integrating a structured feedback loop into your experimentation processes can significantly enhance the outcomes. Encourage team members to document their experiments and share their findings with the broader organization. This practice not only disseminates valuable insights but also helps avoid redundant efforts and accelerates the collective learning curve. You can champion this culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, ensuring that every experiment, whether successful or not, contributes to the organization's innovation ecosystem and long-term strategic goals.

Remember there is no failure. It's succeed or iterate. Encourage them to experiment, and correct/pivot based on feedback. They should never feel like someone is keeping score and feel pressured.

In addition to leveraging data analysis, it's crucial to establish a robust data governance framework. Ensure data quality, integrity, and security are maintained, as these are foundational to gaining reliable insights. Promote a culture where data-driven decision-making is the norm, and invest in continuous training for your team to stay updated on the latest data analytics tools and methodologies. Furthermore, integrate artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance data analysis capabilities, enabling predictive analytics and uncovering deeper insights faster.

The caveat is to make sure they look at relevant data / metrics. Part of innovation is not to look at the old measures, which may not actually measure end results.

A lot of technologies are available for free. Try the free version, and only if you are sure that it's the right investment, then flip into the paid for version. Try and build in cancellation periods as well. Make sure you can measure success. This may not be monetary if you aren't in a revenue generating function, but it may mean person hours saved, or ability for an AML team to look at more cases per hour. Just make sure you have a metric that you are measuring, and can use for the determination of whether this is a good investment.

Encourage your team to fail quickly, so you don't waste money down dead ends. On the flip side, don't underspend on promising opportunities.

I add the mentality of creating simple solutions (MVP), to test, make mistakes, and scale in less time, using these 4 Steps: 1) Define the Essentials: Focus on the basic features, that solve the main problem; 2) Develop Quickly: Create a working a fast MVP; 3) Test with Key Users: Get immediate feedback to identify areas for improvement; 4) Iterate and Improve: Make continuous adjustments, based on the feedback you receive. With this approach, you'll see your ideas come to life quickly and be able to adjust course as needed for maximum impact !
