I personally don't follow the V-model because I believe that integration, testing, and verification should be done before implementation. The V-model can deliver products faster but usually at the expense of overall quality as the model promotes releasing unfinished products.

Even though it is important to hold the technical vocabulary for the Systems engineering field you belong, it is equally good if you can explain concepts and practices analogously in layman's terms. After all, communication and collaboration across cross-competent teams is an essential day to day role of any systems engineer.

I personally have a hard time understanding complex English that's written for the sake of making the writer look smart. Communication, whether spoken or written, should always be presented clearly and understandably. Making ideas harder to access with complex English turns them into boulders that do not move and stay in one spot.

Problem solving skills is one of the key important aspects for system Engineering. Properly analysing the problem, knowing its ground cause and then thinking for the most modular solution of it, one of the key thing I have learned these days is also the mindset you carry, the problem sometimes is not that big of a hurdle than our brain makes it, sometimes it just requires some carefull observation.

Even though you have gained on the job skills, it is always an add-on to flaunt certifications issued within the industry to keep yourself stand out. A Systems engineer is considered better and knowledgeable the more he/she knows the details of product/software/tools/etc.

It's important to fulfill your role on any team to the best of your ability while maintaining good feedback with relevant team members. If you are leading a team, it is important to let the good workers do their jobs and help any individuals who may be facing challenges. As a Systems Engineer and team leader it is your job to know everything and be able to help anybody anytime there is an issue to be solved.

Be open to new ideas. Always learn new things. Continually refine your skills and abilities. Learn the Math. Apply sound, logical, modular mathematics to your design principle and let the system come to you. Stay creative and always push to make the most advanced technology that you are capable of.
