Don’t try to boil the ocean by addressing risks and building capabilities to maturity levels that aren’t relevant to your organization and where you are today on your journey. If you don’t have the basic foundations sorted, efforts spent elsewhere are a wasteful distraction at best. At worst, they mean precious effort spent on lower value outcomes while real, practical open risks are starved for the resources necessary to adequately and efficiently address the company’s biggest risks.
