I think it's very natural and human to be defensive, after all, you're defending your own performance and value, but learn to think of it as a showcase, and how to improve a showcase performance. Every performer has a bad day, or a lack of rehearsing that leads to forgetting lines. I feel that if we build enough self-worth, we are better at accepting and asking for valuable insights to our performance, because we know deep down that even if we don't get the job, we are going to be alright. This is the philosophy I want to pass on. Moments will pass and you will have another moment to be great.

A veces ni los reclutadores tienen claramente la información porque fuiste rechazado. Uno de mis preguntas favoritas que recomiendo candidatos hacer para mejorar sus habilidades de "venderse" en un proceso de selección es preguntar al Headhunter externo: "Me encanto el proceso de selección, siento que fue una buena experiencia. Crees que yo logré comunicar en la mejor manera mi estilo de liderazgo y mis habilidades gerenciales?" ó: "Me encantaría pedir tu opinion como experto en reclutamiento que ves tantos perfiles, si logré transmitir correctamente mis fortalezas como candidato a tu cliente?"

Por eso trabajar en tu autoconfianza, es bien importante. Una tecnica que aumenta la autoconfianza es hacer el dia antes de la entrevista un listado de todas las razones porque eres el candidato ideal para ESTA posición en particular, y léelo de nuevo antes de la entrevista. Ve cada entrevista como una practica mejorando tu autoconfianza. Si te quedas contratado en el camino de aprendizaje, genial!

La regla del oro en una entrevista es asegurar que conversas. Si piensas de vuelta en la entrevista laboral que te dejo contratado en tu ultimo trabajo, probablemente sentiste como si fuera una platica super agradable. Es porque probablemente así fue! La conversación fluyo y tu jefe anterior y tu, hicieron clic. Por eso es muy importante que antes de la entrevista, preparas un montón de preguntas que puedes hacer. Así la conversación no se convierte monótono en que el entrevistador pregunta, y tu contesta. Usa el humor, investiga quien te entrevista para ver si tienen temas en común: estudios, conocidos, intereses etc. para romper el hielo desde el inicio. Trata durante la entrevista que ambos hablan 50/50.

Ideally, I know this is a lot of work, but Ideally, you interview for similar positions 10 times before you accept an offer. This will give you a MOUNTAIN of leverage and will allow you to negotiate on better terms as you've seen what you like and dislike. It will allow the hiring manager to see you as an expert because not only have you rehearsed a tonne of times AND you've performed. You'll know exactly what companies are offering because (hopefully) you've received a few offers. My first job out of Uni was like this. I interviewed, turned down offers and was turned down. Its a full time job, but its worth it. At the end of the day I got the exact position I wanted with the flexibility I needed. Trade upfront work for backend pleasure!
