In my experience, one should firstly contact with the person who is already in this filed. He will guide him from where to start and how to go. Because without guidance one's time will be wasted upto 2 to 3 months to find the resources and where to learn, and where to start. I can say that person will face problem of gradient boosting in terms of Deep Learning. So Start with contacting with some one who is the in the field, after that focus on some Linear Algerba and Statistics, then go Data Analysis and Visualization. Next Learn Machine Learning, later go to the Deep Learning and NLP.
