First part is introducing the problem briefly, then present the conclusion, a complete sentence of two lines and then the main reasons for your advice with 3 to 5 principal arguments, because that is the best of your alternatives. Engage in Dialogue: Approach your boss calmly and professionally, presenting your findings and being open to their perspective. Reason Together: Collaboratively work through the decision, considering all angles and using the information to support your points while being adaptable.

Lets start by acknowledging that since the boss is the boss, s/he has a broader view of most of the things if not all. So, when you discuss any situation with them, try to understand their standpoint, think and talk accordingly. Whatever you suggest, always back it up with solid plan, strategy or data evidence, this would be make your point stronger. I am not a hierarchy person, but you should at times respect it as the person sitting on a higher level might be facing bigger challenges. Ultimately, what I have learnt in the corporate so far is that if 2 sensible people are talking, there will always be an agreement, either agreement on agreeing or agreement on disagreeing, so always present your ideas in calm, composed and smart manner.

Every decision needs to be weighed along with its impact across every tier of your organisation. The process may not always be simple. Do your due diligence and fact finding and ensure that you have every merit and demerit of your proposed solution listed with you. Always project the pros but don’t brush the cons under the rug.
