In my experience, any transition requires a bit of self-motivation and a lot of effort (and perseverance). In the beginning, I recommend exploring your way of learning. For me, learning the theory before putting it into practice helps at the moment of making those neural connections where you internalise the whole concept. Then it's a matter of practising until you have mastered it. So there are a lot of preferences at the moment of learning: Just practise and then read something, not read and everything but try and error until success. After that, it's like I always say: Just do what you do in the aftermath. If you don't know something, find a tutorial, try to understand what's happening and try something new.
