Feedback is the only means of knowing if you are in the right direction of leading your goals forward.

Feedback is the most important learning opportunity we give to our students. Personalized, 1-1 feedback is priceless when it is kind, helpful, and specific. Asking for more critical is a smart strategy but very hard for many of us to do.

Feedback in educational leadership is crucial for professional growth. Constructive feedback provides valuable insights into your strengths and areas for improvement. In education, we are used to giving feedback, but not always getting it. Truth is, we may not always like the way feedback is packaged, but there can be nuggets of wisdom buried in there. The overall goal is to be a better leader, so if you are lacking in something, it’s a good idea to set a good example to those you lead, and show that you can grow and develop from feedback given to you.

In my experience, constructive feedback is a precursor to meaningful instruction. By receiving meaningful feedback it allows one to start the reflection process and to assess what could strengthen the observed areas. As humans we naturally tend to fear feedback from our superiors, but as long as the feedback is constructive and comes from a growth perspective than that feedback should be relished as opposed to feared. It can act as a primer for what is expected and can truly be used to jumpstart a reflection process.
