How can reflection promote action research in teaching?

Journaling is a fantastic way to find your research focus. Journal for several weeks about your work environment. You will begin to see trends in what is working well, what needs to be improved, and consistent issues. Then you can just add the following phrase in front of your desired outcomes: ”Investigate how to produce…”. For example, you realize after two weeks of journaling that your discussions in class are a serious of monologues and there is very little collaboration. Your research focus becomes: Investigating how to produce collaborate discussion in a high school classroom. Then the research begins. But now you are vested and interested, even passionate, because your topic came from sincere and focused reflection.

Teachers start by identifying an issue or question within their teaching practice or student learning outcomes and ends by evaluating the impact of the changes on student learning outcomes and overall classroom dynamics. This evaluation informs further adjustments and improvements.

Como professor, acredito que o planejamento pedagógico que antecipa as ações em sala de aula deve ter a mesma importância que os planejamentos feitos a posteriori, como relatos de aula e planos de atendimento educacional especializado. No dia a dia, muitas vezes os trabalhos após a aula não recebem tanta atenção devido ao desgaste físico e mental. Isso só melhora caso haja tempo suficiente para que professores possam se dedicar ao planejamento, elaboração e reflexão sobre o que já fizeram. É preciso entender que a documentação desse planejamento a posteriori é tão importante quanto as outras documentações que são previamente solicitadas antes de entrar em sala de aula.

When teachers question assumptions, seek alternative perspectives, and engage in continuous learning to actively contribute to their field, they inspire others to participate in action research.

Momentos de reflexão também precisam ser dinâmicos a ponto de gerar elementos conclusivos e palpáveis a todos em um curto espaço de tempo. A contagem do tempo de fala de cada um em uma grande e extensa reunião é algo que por si só já traria muitos elementos para reflexão caso pudesse ser visualizado em gráficos, por exemplo. Os atravessamentos entre os temas e a categorização de elementos que pautam nossas reflexões é de extrema importância, tendo em vista que também estamos falando da gestão da informação e do conhecimento ao realizar reflexões como parte de práticas relacionadas a pesquisa-ação. As tecnologias podem nos ajudar nisso através de ferramentas que facilitam a criação de nuvem de palavras, brainstorms e análises de dados.

A importância dos portfólios já vem sendo há muito tempo destacada em todas as etapas da educação básica e é preciso dar ainda mais relevância às ações que podemos tomar a partir e através deles. A produção, armazenamento e distribuição da dos registros documentais físicos e digitais das ações são coisas etapas fortalecedoras de toda uma transformação que pode continuamente ocorrer na prática dos professores, a medida em que visualizamos as aulas não como um evento isolado mas sim como algo que faz parte de um projeto maior e contínuo, cujo início e fim se constituem como elementos que são linhas de força e não fronteiras.
