How can stakeholder engagement support a low-carbon economy?
A low-carbon economy is one that minimizes greenhouse gas emissions and fosters sustainable development. Achieving this goal requires the collaboration and commitment of various stakeholders, such as governments, businesses, consumers, and civil society. Stakeholder engagement is the process of involving and communicating with these groups to understand their needs, expectations, and perspectives, and to align them with the objectives and actions of a low-carbon transition. In this article, we will explore how stakeholder engagement can support a low-carbon economy in four key ways: building trust and legitimacy, enhancing innovation and competitiveness, increasing resilience and adaptation, and creating shared value and benefits.
