Aligning with business goals is considered most vital in the path of excellency and building competitive edge, it started very early from the hiring process of each team member. So the hiring manager should focus on building a team that united on the same goals and they can build a strong communication channels and standardize the policies thorough the organization.

This is totally differ nowadays, measuring innovation in workplace is hard because of bureaucracy (complexity), competition, politics in workplace. As a team lead and business' founder: I found that innovation is always better measured and rewarded in small companies than enterprises. So to measure innovation in enterprise and big companies, it requires some teams to be in watch for new ideas and the implementation of it, more meetings in smaller size to listen and discuss new projects, ideas. Innovators always exist in healthy environments that is why not every company can compete with traditional ways. Small businesses always the core of prosperous enterprise.
