How can you build integrity and social impact in your community?

Take a cue from Jerry Maguire! Write a mission statement with with three core values and three core beliefs. Let this statement be your guide through thick and thin. In the movie Jerry got so sick of how his industry managed athletes, he wrote a detailed mission statement including the need for fewer clients, and better personal relationships. Show me the money! Or mission statement.

Staying accountable can help you maintain integrity and ensure that you're making a positive impact in your community. Be transparent, communicate openly, and be willing to adapt your strategy based on feedback you receive.

Let's not recreate the wheel - use #BreneBrown 's values exercise as a way to hone in on your top TWO values (yes, only 2!). Why two? It forces you to get laser-focused on what's really important and find related themes across many areas of your life. Two of our favorite questions to ask our clients when determining their values are: (1) Tell us a time you felt most in your power. (2) When is your power shaken, and what do you do? You are most in your power - feeling THE MOST YOU - when your values are being met and/or answered; on the flip side, your power is shaken when your value is compromised. Using these two exercises in concert can help you hone in on your top 2 values; and from there is where the magic happens.

You set your ways and people adjust! If you can't speak your mind, you will never get what you expect. Sharing your mind and opinions is how your values define your reality.

While seemingly easy, finding a new principles that you want to center your values on can be quite tricky and often it's easy to model them after some of the best practices you've seen among the leaders who inspire you. In these moments, what helps is thinking about your "non-negotiables". You can have many principles you want to uphold but a few you cannot function without. Distilling those into a few concrete pillars can help anchor you.

Taking the time to go inward and gain clarity on our personal values is a transformative journey that can profoundly impact the way we approach life and make a positive difference in the world. It starts with a fundamental question: What drives us? Is it the love and support of your family that fuels your passion? Often, a defining moment in our lives can be the catalyst for change, revealing our true 'why'. My work with hundreds of clients has proved that our greatest wounds carry the seeds of our greatest teachings. What we’re here to give back. Clarity then becomes the compass guiding us. This alignment allows us to come from a place of purpose, making our actions more impactful and our contributions more significant.

It can feel weird to be honest/vulnerable on professional social media; especially for most of us who've been taught that there is a "work version" and "personal version" of ourselves that exists. If 2020 and beyond have taught us anything, that's complete BS. The two worlds are melded together more than ever before, AND if you're brave enough to be the authentic, real version of you no matter where you go, then the opportunities and job/joy fit will be off the charts. Once you know your values, you can use these as guiding principles for authentic storytelling. For instance, if your value is authenticity, you can tell a story about a real struggle, win, experience, etc. Being able to disclaim, "As someone whose value is authenticity..."

I have Always believe that when you say you're going to do something, you stick to it. Even if at the end of the day. It's not at your favor anymore but just because you already consented. You keep your word. Just A couple of weeks ago, I had a fall out with someone & it was a heated Argument. He wanted me to agree to contribute money which I didn't budget for, & he was saying it in a coercive way. That was the friction, I didn't obliged. So after that fallout, people where advising that I would have agreed but still later do what was in my mind that I had planned. I Refused to that strategy, which is our focal point of discussing. Honesty, I can't agree to something then later do my mind. For me, I call that conceited.

The key to collaborating effectively with others lies in understanding that there are micro goals that each individual comes to the table with even though you may be united under a single goal. The trick is understanding how you can empower and enable those around you to achieve their goals while working towards what's common.

We came up with something a few years ago that has been revelatory for our community building - we no longer seek "like-minded," but rather, "like-valued." The difference is one can become an echo chamber, while the other can become a catalyst for growth (personal and collective) by aligning and communicating through your values. This is much easier to build authentic connection + relationships on. Also, pro tip? Go where you are a non-traditional voice. As a women-centered company, we don't stand out in women-only spaces. We may feel inspired, and find connection, but it doesn't lead to business. Instead, when we go to traditionally masculine arenas, introducing a novel point of view, the like-valued people (read: customers) find us.

Walk the walk. This is something my Co-Founder & I talk about daily. It's important to talk a lot about the work; but it builds far more trust when you actually do it. An example? As a company rewriting the narrative on modern womanhood, we want to see women as equal and valued architects of the systems that run our lives. Do we talk about this work AND seek to get paid for it? 100%. Yet, we also found there are ways to give our time, expertise, and presence in certain arenas that unlock far more credibility, potential and momentum with the right audiences. We now coach 1st time women candidates running for office; talk about changing a system, yet contributing in a way that feels authentic to our skills/beliefs/values.

Remember that diversity means representation. Representation of thoughts, experiences, perspectives, knowledge, views, expertise...Groups that have a rich representation thrive.

If your problem comes from the ethnicity or cultures of other people, unless you go to therapy and become open-minded, better quit the company and find something else. In all cases, make more friends.

Asking for feedback is tough. Either people can't be honest, either people don't fill them. Give everyone a chance to speak their mind without repercussions. Understanding can exist without executing on bad ideas.

Foster Cohesion If can be one of the best ways to build a community. Working together with trust, respect and equally contributing to the courses that are beneficial to the community. This can be achieved through great leadership. Leading community with integrity towards certain direction in order achieve collaboration with total inclusivity.
