To be quite honest, the simpler the better. You need to find a solution that can meet the needs of your technical team. Firstly, does it work cross platform. For example if your developers use githhub or Sentry or similar programs see if those systems cannot be linked and integrated to make their life easier. Secondly, ensure the flow your planning is actually practical and helps the team to address any concerns or raise issues. It's all about fluidity and communication. There's alot of tools out there that can be used, but a tool is just a tool. You need to put knowledge and consider people's expectations. Personally I love Clickup. Its scalable, powerful and super user friendly.

In theory, yes all of the above is relevant. But that being said, remember that software developers are professionals. They know what works and what doesn't. So take out some time, ask them what they think and what would work for them. At the end of the day they need to perform the work. So ease of use is crucial, you want to minimise any effort for them to do what they need to do and if you afford them with the opportunity to give insight and their opinion, the learning curve and process will not be nearly as challenging as expected. In my experience developers don't like reading through endless documents and guides to understand a system. It needs to have logic and be simple to use. So why not just ask them. They are the experts.

One should be able to easily write or create queries and ideally have a decent syntax language for advanced queries and reports. Export function to one's preferred speadsheet. Ability to generate dashboards and charts for monitors, slide decks, and exec use. Ease of use and learning curve is important point to consider, also we need to think to be as close as the current tech stack which your team is using in development. Lets say , you are mainly Microsoft shop then then first preference should be tools like Azure DevOps as it would give me seamless experience and you will have less learning curve as it is from the same vendor.

I must admit that it is at times challenging to find the right tool. But in practice finding a tool that ticks all of the boxes or requirements listed above is quite ambitious. There will always be some element missing so besides the commercial and functional elements, consider what needs to be sacrificed. If its cost your going to loose functionality and scalability, if its the inverse you need to consider is it really worth the cost. Will it actually improve performance and be useful in a meaningful way across different projects? The only way you will know is to try and see it in action. That's why a proof of concept (POC) is extremely valuable. Not just a demo but the real live system in action.

One particular metrics we need to have is how much user base that X & Y company currently has and will it increase down the lane via M&A - these information plays are crucial role in pricing. Eventually it purely depends on the budgeting perspective and varies to company to company.

Based on my experience, I recommend not segregating task management or project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Monday.com from bug tracking tools. Utilizing a unified tool for both task management and bug tracking enhances reporting and provides stakeholders with a more comprehensive project status overview.

Any bug tracking tool that is actually used is the right tool, especially in smaller organisations with small or single-developer teams. As long as the tool is used, and is used consistently and constantly, that is the right tool.

I must say that any tool which fulfills your requirement and your team is ready use to use it this must be your go-to tool for your bug tracking because the more you compare, choose and decide the more time it will take to execute. Bug tracking is a subset of "work that needs tracked" for an engineering team (which should be all). An anti pattern is to have different tools to track team's parallel work such as Bugs in one tool, new features in another user feedback in another. Fortunately these days the common products that enable organizing of team's work include bug tracking as well as work items tracking, suggestions etc. everything needs to go into one tool in the end and enable the team to prioritize, categorize and make the right investments in tackling the totality of such work and enable aggregate metrics for eng leaders to assess how well the team is functioning against execution workload.
