To become a “skilled” FEA Engineer, for beginners, I would always recommend to customize their FEA training by understanding: 1. what is linear/non-linear static/dynamic analyses means and when to use them. What are implicit and explicit analyses are. 2. Learn the basic concepts of physics and fundamental theory behind each analyses. 3. Understand the basic concepts of FEA in softwares (boundary conditions, material inputs, loading inputs, different meshing techniques). - It all comes down to, how you can best replicate the physical system behaviour in the virtual FEA world by choosing the correct modelling technique’s.

FEA is key in reliability engineering.In any engineering domain.It should be a part of any engineering domain...Electrical/Electronics/Civil/Mechanical/Instrumental...maybe even for IT hardware where the products are subject to external and environmental impetus.

Some of the basis baby steps would be * Build concept over Strength of Material, Vibration and Materials science * FEA Basics if you have not studied in college should be looked into * Training on tool is easy , you can learn it in 3 months * Specializations in any domain as such could take months like Noise and Vibration, Durability , Crash and Safety. But here is the catch, none of the institute can have that much data to give you trainings. You need to join any organizations to have that hands on data.

In my experience leveraging FEA what I believe to be the most powerful learning opportunity is realizing that as with any other analysis tool is the alternative comparisons. There are so many variables incorporated into the model structure that may not necessarily be exact that leaves the output to question. This is why I believe that learning to understand the inputs and varying them in a scientific ways will provide knowledge of how altering each variable influences each other variable and the outcome.

If the goal is to be an expert then use open source tools & solvers, make most of python based routine. Make your own code or routine. If you can do this then transition to commercial tools will be easy later.

A mi me a resultado útil las herramientas básicas al inicio de la teoría del análisis de elementos finitos , utilizando desde tablas de Excel con las fórmulas básicas de los distintos tipos de apoyos y los distintos grados de libertad en los movimientos de los cuerpos. Esto me a ayudado a entender que hay detrás de un análisis en un sistema computacional en este caso yo he utilizado software especializado que recomiendo ampliamente para la aplicación de condiciones físicas en modelos 3D. Desde las deformaciones en los cuerpos hasta el comportamiento de fluidos . El software que les recomiendo en Ansys Workbench.
