In my view, finding a match between your writing expertise and target audiences must precede choosing the platform. For example if you specialise in writing for children, then you must be good at drawings too. Similarly, if you are intending to become a lecturer, then you must have good verbal and writing skills. Aside that, you must be really careful while choosing a platform because each social median is used for specific purpose. I guess, that is why teachers are using YouTube too. This point reminds me, a writer must also determine learners' learning style and then craft the content in that format. For instance, kids prefer watching videos over a written content.
