How can you effectively network with colleagues in different geographic locations?

-Always have positive conversation -Whenever you have meeting participate actively -Instead of judging people try to understands them, it will be helpful to build positive bond/trust and healthy work environment. - Always share your learning and knowledge with team.

In the immortal words of Walt Whitman via Ted Lasso "Be curious not judgmental". Ask questions about their situation, culture, society, or setup with no agenda. Simply absorb what they have to share with you. Do not be in a rush. Give that person as much time as the relationship can handle. This is the hard one for me. Sometimes I see networking as a task to complete rather than a skill to build. I want to do it and be done. Building these relationships (and they are relationships) takes time spent together. Finding the balance between forcing it and rushing it is key. Remember that it isn't all about what you can do for each other. While that is certainly a goal of networking it should be kept out of it until the relationship matures.

Lead and lead by examples. Be a doer and walk the talk. Be empathic, firm and actively checking on your colleagues and team members. Collaborate more on even projects that do not require your 100% involvement. Guide your communication and tailor it towards productive things, be full of energy and drive conversations.

Leverage AI and platforms like Google meet & Microsoft Teams to enhance your networking efforts. These tools provide a global reach, allowing you to connect with colleagues worldwide. Utilize features such as messaging, groups, and content sharing to maximize your networking potential.

Using the right tool for managing different outcomes are critical. You can’t just rely only on a WhatsApp group as a cure all for every engagement with the team or the customer. Nowadays, there are enough tools and apps which can help you with various task management and team engagement requirements. Do your research and go for it.

In my experience, a sincere greeting or comment about their achievements is a good way to maintain these kind of relationships. We will have a birthday, Christmas or New Year as an excuse to greet people too. A personal greeting help distant connections last and gives a touch of joy to their day.

Even though one can find every solution on the internet. I have often found it extremely helpful to engage colleagues in my network when i encounter challenging tasks or situations. These coleagues often offer unique and informed perspectives gained from their expereince. These interactions also allow me to stay intouch and maintain a healthy relationship with my people in my network.
