How can you evaluate parking demand with transportation modeling?

Designing the city smartly is the key to understanding of how traffic will be in future. City should be planned and divided in to particular zones. Say one section or area of city is defined as Financial zone, other is IT zone and considering future investments area should be assigned and following that roads and traffic management system should be designed and analyzed.

New city plan design will be quite different of today. In congested city areas the bicycle will be the most important transport mean. People will work in distance from places they like to live. train,airplane and autoroute will be the main public transit between towns,and sometimes ship transportation.Il will not be so much people travelling for job but the the travelling for entertainment and good transportation.

One thing I've found helpful is that decentralization is key in determining congestion, emissions and accessibility. When cities are designed in such a manner, it reduces movement of vehicles because services are easily accessed in areas without going to central business areas, a common phenomenon in Africa cities like Harare. So the use of smart City Designs like the 15 minute city is something that will contribute to the above mentioned factors.

Nothing is free and without cost. Shopkeepers and their employees could learn from this when they want to park by their front door and complain about no customer parking.

Let’s look at Disney. Have you been lately? $30-$55 parking. And the lot is full. So my answer for parking modeling in California is we need to look at how other cities like Japan has managed to create direct transportation to where having a car is not as necessary as it is now in California. That’s a few miles into the future but worth the vision.

Most underdeveloped countries, development was carried in a way that didn't consider future growth. Now heavy congestion levels are being witnessed and few parking spaces. Design of streets and parking spaces were done poorly. Modern developments, because of lack of space, basement parking and building parkades. Parking is a big problem mainly to land scarcity problems.

Getting data to analyze the need for a new designed parking with the engagement of the community who could support by getting their valuable feedback.

All problems have causes. The problem of transport in line with parking demand can be solved through data connection and analysis. Data collection of mathematical statistics can be done to have possible solutions for the current problems and the possible future projected problems. Mathematical data like the number of people using private vehicles can be used to improve transport efficiency through introduction of bus transit system or train systems, to reduce parking problems.

Parking must be priced at its actual cost including externalities. The underlying assumptions must be changed and the reality that cars simply don’t scale needs to be better understood. The fact that several transportation professionals are complaining about availability of land is proof that this field is broken and needs to be tossed completely.

AI has its limits. It will only collect data within a given context. Designers should think outside the box to change ways of life. For example, if you only have to travel to your vacation destination in the future, you may cutdown your traveling and parking requirements by 90% 🙏

First: get data from public transportation agencies and analyze it based on demand and land use. Second: checking trends in electric cars, and plans for public transportation improvement. Third: make a charrette to understand parking in terms of local users. Fourth: develop a model to predict multiple parking demand scenarios. Final: develop a statistical model that includes short- and long-term changes.
