How can you help parents reinforce learning at home?

Yeats 3 questions to ask on this: How can educators effectively communicate with parents to provide insights into their child's learning progress and areas for improvement? In what ways can parents be empowered with resources and strategies to create a conducive learning environment at home? How does promoting a collaborative approach between educators and parents contribute to a holistic and supportive learning experience for students?

The value of a good relationship between parents and schools should never be underestimated. It should be viewed as a powerful and nurturing partnership where everyone has the best interests of the child at heart. Regular communication is vital for this. Parents also need to know the methods they can use to communicate with teachers for this to be an effective relationship.

It has been helpful for our family to get to know the names and some fun personal details about each of our kids teachers. The communication becomes more meaningful and interesting when we find ways to connect with them as real, three-dimensional people! Younger teachers are often open to non-traditional channels of communicating which also adds joy and texture to the learning experience, such as seeing photos and videos of kids engaged in meaningful, fun learning activities.

The best way to build a learning relationship with your child and the school is to be the best example of who you are to your child. Developing truthful and open communication, trusting and respecting your child for who they are, helps build a strong bond with school, teachers and the curriculum. Be open to suggestions and listen, not only to your voice but to all other voices.

I think it's important for children and parents to put their phones or ipads away and connect with each other. There are resources available that both parent and child can engage in and learn from. For example there are coloring books on the market that teach values so that's an oppotunity for a parent to have a constructive dialogue with their child while doing a fun pastime like coloring.

The only problem envisage with setting goals for the child is if the parents are not educated and not informed..its easier with a parent who is informed.i feel the teacher and parents can arrive at an arrangement that can work for the child..by helping the parents enforce the set goal

In line with the SMART acronym, parents can be guided on how to make learning less abstract for their children. An example could be allowing their child make a list of items before going shopping or helping to measure out condiments while cooking. These are practical and useful ways to deepen their understanding of writing lists or applying measurements in real life.

É fundamental a troca de informações com os pais, muitas vezes temos pais com um vocabulário reduzido, onde tiveram poucas oportunidades de estudo e esses sentem vergonha até mesmo de escrever um bilhete para a escola. Ouvir a necessidade de cada responsável será fundamental para que se possa conhecer a realidade de cada um. Depois de conhecer esse público, aí sim poderá se comunicar de maneira lógica e consciente, sabendo que a comunicação de ambos será eficaz. Ajudar esses pais estabelecerem metas é fundamental, muitas vezes chegam cansados dos seus respectivos empregos e não sabem como fazer. Se o professor ajudar estabelecer metas para esses pais, talvez possa receber novos resultados em uma futura tarefa desempenhada

I think it is not only providing resources for learning but go further by taking the Kids on a Tour to Sites and Places relevant to their Study. Like when handling a Subject on Mountain, Valley and Rocks. It is vital and crucial to take them to places where these Mountains and Rocks exist to facilitate the Learning Process and for better Assimilation.

J’ai souvent constaté des malentendus entre parents, élèves et professeurs sur le travail en-dehors de la classe : expliciter les consignes (que signifie revoir ou apprendre sa leçon par exemple), l’effort attendu (faut-il une réponse courte ou très développée, combien de temps de travail ?). Selon l’âge (élémentaire, collège, lycée) et l’autonomie (expérience de la matière), il faut ajuster cette explicitation. Le travail sur des fiches de mémorisation qui identifient les essentiels du cours, proposent des questions et des éléments de réponse sont efficaces: l’élève seul, ou bien avec un camarade ou ses parents se pose les questions et cherche à fournir la réponse la plus complète. Comme des flashcards mais en suivant la logique du cours.

Com o avanço da tecnologia, muitas ferramentas vieram para ajudar a aprimorar os conhecimentos dos alunos. Mas infelizmente, esse avanço não atingiu gerações passadas, muitos responsáveis não tiveram acesso a essas tecnologias e hoje se encontram perdidos em um mar de inteligência artificial, criptografia, educação à distância, dentre muitos marcos. Temos pais que gostariam de conhecer mais esse mundo novo, mas precisam de ajuda. Aí que entra o papel da escola, podendo desenvolver apostilas que auxiliem os pais a entrarem nas plataformas de estudos, vídeo aula que possam explicar passo a passo de como desenvolver uma tarefa na Internet por exemplo. O importante é não abandonar os pais da geração passada

In supporting their child's learning at home, the parent should actively seek out educational resources and guidance. They can explore age-appropriate materials, utilize online tools, and consider recommended books aligned with their child's curriculum. Establishing a conducive learning environment and maintaining a consistent routine provides essential structure. The parent should foster open communication with teachers, regularly checking in on the child's progress, and being readily available to address any questions or concerns.

Les rétroactions sont en effet essentielles. Il est important d’expliciter aux parents les conditions d’efficacité de ces rétroactions : elles doivent permettre de soutenir l’apprentissage et ne pas cibler la personne qu’est l’élève. Comme les parents ne sont pas experts au contraire de l’enseignant, on peut utilement leur fournir des exemples de questions qui permettront à l’élève de s’autoréguler (est-ce que tu as d’autres éléments pour compléter la réponse, quelles situations proches as-tu rencontré en classe, quel paragraphe de ta leçon ou de ton manuel traitent de ce sujet…). L’idée est de mobiliser les ressources dont dispose l’élève plutôt que les connaissances et compétences des parents.

By the time children go to school you might expect parents know the fields of interest of their child(ren). Then I experience that exposure to life situation such as grocery shopping or DIY stores to understand, measure or calculate works encouraging to learn. I would extrapolate this to older ages as well that through a field of interest it lowers barriers to learn. One may expect more imagination from parents than from child(ren) to create encouraging environments. It could lead to the self awareness of a child to look for these environments when approaching adulthood. It requires time and effort, probably starting early.

In my experience, it helps to create an engaging storyline related to classroom lessons or activities that are relatable to the student and can easily be reiterated in narrative form. Creating a compelling narrative that directly relates to the lesson content is a great way to encourage students in engaging conversation with parents or caretakers regardless of their level of knowledge regarding any particular project.

Eu posso falar com propriedade que receber um feedback é muito prazeroso. Ainda mais de quem você ama. Incentivar esses pais a estarem atentos, olhando os cadernos, dando o retorno de atividades, dizendo que sentem orgulho dos seus filhos. Até mesmo aqueles que estejam com dificuldades na escola, e apresentam notas baixas. Dizer para eles que podem contar com seu apoio, e estar presente mesmo não só no falar, mas também no agir. Estudar com os filhos, ajudá-los a desenvolver tarefas, trabalhos e ao final quando chegar a nota, dar aquele retorno que fará a diferença na vida desse aluno. Falo isso com lágrimas nos olhos, pois me lembro bem quando recebia elogio de meus pais enquanto estudava, e isso fez muita diferença para mim.

The principles of diversity and inclusion, plus the knowledge about the rights and responsibilities of children, will definitely help in assisting children with learning needs.

Vivemos em um país com diversas culturas. O Brasil, ele é colorido e não é a toa. Ele vem moldado de diversas histórias e elas merecem ser ouvidas. E isso pode ser feito através de um trabalho, onde os professores possam pedir que seus alunos façam uma entrevista com seus pais, onde eles contaram sobre sua infância, sua origem, suas crenças, valores, preferências. Sabendo que virão diversas falas e todas deverão ser respeitadas.

Education would be a natural collaborative effort. Both the parents and teachers are seeking to develop the child into a contributing member of society. Have the parents asked their children what they learned in school? Then have them find uses for this information. The parents can also tell the children how they may have used this information so the students see the relevance. Most importantly, as teachers, explain how you wish the children to learn the material: What would be the 1st step in learning this? Then what? How would that relate to something they already know? Could they use the information or the skill in daily life? How would the children teach someone who doesn't know the subject matter? Give the parents a process.

Understand that the parents may have studied the material you're teaching but used completely different methods. The parents shouldn't have to re-teach their children, just coach them through the process. This means the parents don't SHOW them how to learn this material, they ASK them how to learn this material. Give them some questions to get them started.

I always felt that the parents should do their jobs and allow the teachers to engage students in learning. I once asked a boy to solve a simple maths problem but he asked me which method do I want? I learned that he uses different methods to solve the same problem depending on who asks: class teacher, tuition teacher, mother, father, and a neighbor who helps him with his homework. Luckily he doesn't have an elder sibling! If the child has to remember five different ways to solve a simple problem, imagine the pain the children are going through while studying so much unnecessary material. In short, parents interfere with their children's studies rather than help them.

Following humanistic approaches, like Reggio emilia, It was useful for me & I recomend it strongly. Accepting the enviroment as the third teacher.

One of my favourite strategies has been hosting Back-To-School sessions, where I invited parents to come to school to have taster lessons. I was aware that some parents had not had a positive experience of education themselves and enabling them to come into school enabled them to empathise more with their children. The parents were also able to gain an insight into the mindset, skills and resilience required for learning in and outside of a school environment.

Technology helps both teachers and parents to be in touch. Frequent parent teacher meetings. Teachers will cover particular topics/areas of study While parents will take care of the remaining areas (depending on their educational background) which is to be mutually agreed.
