How can you promote adoption of the PREPARE framework in your healthcare organization?

I realized a gap area of direct patient voice in RA as a disease and thus have circulated an online voluntary but anonymous survey. Analysis of the results is giving me a good perspective of assessing the current situation of RA patients, their caregivers and doctors.

The key to true patient advocacy is measuring how often we are making a POSITIVE clinical impact on the patient’s length and quality of life, and taking into consideration the direct impact the patient’s attitude has towards the proposed treatment plan. As a medical professional, there are too many gaps between specialties; we need to see more internal communication and synergy- that’s where the change happens. Asking the patient and family for involvement and specifying their goals is equally important. Where there is no understanding or expectation, there will surely be disappointment.

Before trying to prepare a framework in your dental office check how patients and your team make decisions. Ask them questions and see what's going well and what can be better. Look at your existing rules too.

As part of educating the staff, I am in the process of generating educational material in form of one sliders or even slide sets on various aspects of RA as a disease. These will go online as well via webinars.

Again I am engaging patients and caregivers while my RA survey so that there voices can be heard of. As part of counselling I am raising awareness amongst key stakeholders as how beneficial it is to increase the dialogue amongst themselves
