In my experience, it is very important that the data that you are collecting is accurate and precise. This is the reason why we have to conduct measurement system analysis in the measure phase to make sure the your measurement system passed the criteria. ie GRR, PT, NDC, Discrimination, Bias and Linearity for variable data and Consistency, Effectiveness, Miss rate and False alarm rate for attribute data. In the analyze phase we will have to use statistical software to validate potential input factors. What is important is that we will let the data speak.
