I will add the caveat that this is unique to the UK. Also, it's worth being careful with referrals. As bias already exists towards white, middle aged dudes for getting cheques...they're likely to refer more middle aged white dudes. This doesn't improve a portfolio, it reduces diversity and diverse teams are statistically successful.
