Idiomas como inglês e espanhol também são fundamentais para um gerente de exportação: ao assumir este posto, o profissional precisa estar apto a conversar com os mais diversos clientes e nas situações mais adversas.

Na minha opinião, para se tornar um gerente de exportação, é recomendável ter uma formação superior, preferencialmente em áreas como Comércio Exterior ou Administração, complementada por experiência prática em comércio exterior ou logística internacional, e participando de cursos e eventos na área. Devido as responsabilidades do cargo, é necessário ter habilidade em negociação, conhecer as regulamentações de comércio internacional, fluência em idiomas (inglês e espanhol, inicialmente) e saber lidar com as diferenças culturais. Muitas vezes vejo acontecer o crescimento dentro da empresa, começando em posições de nível inicial, adquirindo experiência prática e conhecimento específico do setor, antes de assumir responsabilidades de gestão.

From my experience, you need to be on the ground. Get to know how export trade works in you country/area, from packing to container stuffing, if possible even have experience working at ports. Practical knowledge will alow you to have a broader scope of export logistics and once at a management level, will help you make informed decisions, not just towards the client, but considering your execution teams involvement.

I have seen on my own that it is very important to have working experience and not just education. One thing is theoretical knowledge but practice is much more.

Gain work experience. While studying, try to gain relevant work experience through internships or entry-level positions related to export or international trade. This will give you practical knowledge and help you develop important skills in areas such as negotiation, market analysis, and relationship management.

In export, in addition to finding target markets and customers, finding suppliers is also very important. Because you may not be the producer yourself.

Attend trade shows, industry conferences, and seminars related to international trade. Join professional associations, build relationships with exporters, importers, and industry professionals from around the world. Utilize social media platforms like LinkedIn to connect with professionals in your desired industry and participate in relevant discussions and forums. Also important to stay informed. It is important to stay up-to-date with all the news and updates in the industry. It is regularly evolving and an export manager has to learn this and use it in his workplace regularly. If a person makes decisions that are not the best for the company he works at because he doesn't know the "new rules and procedures" this can cause problems, higher costs and even profit lost.
