How do you celebrate and showcase student achievements and feedback?

Example: For leadership, create a checklist that includes items like "initiates group activities," "helps resolve conflicts," and "takes responsibility for group tasks." 2 Communicate these criteria clearly to students so they understand what is required to be recognized. Example: Share the rubric with students at the beginning of the term and post it on the classroom wall and online portal. 3 Model Respectful Communication: - Demonstrate and promote respectful, constructive communication. Example: When a student shares an opinion, acknowledge their contribution and encourage others to build on it using the rubric itself so that the feedback is constructive.

I created positive learning environments by creating class rituals to affirm everyone's individuality while cultivating a cultural mission statement around our intended goal for learning. This cultural mission statement in my mathematics class was: "We will question, solve, share, create, and honor math with and for all people." Students recited this math cultural mission statement at the beginning and end of every math class.

To create a positive learning environment, I have ditched the traditional rules and moved to classroom values (trust, perseverance, integrity, respect) and the students have dialogue centered around how to get their needs met based on the non-negotiable values. Each class may look slightly different, however, the conversation quickly changes from “can we eat in class,” to “how to we approach disagreement,” or “what happens when a student is not participating?” This truly establishes a community of caring, respect and accountability as students understand their role in making sure the classroom space is a safe and inclusive one.

We celebrate student achievements by issuing branded e-certificates, recognizing them on verified social media pages, and showcasing their work in digital portfolios on our official website. We also host webinars for them to present their projects and provide personalized feedback that highlights their strengths and areas for growth. This approach ensures students are publicly honored and set up for future success.

1. Trello: Use Trello to create boards where students can list their goals, set deadlines, and move tasks through stages of completion. Students can create personal boards and share progress with teachers for regular check-ins. 2. Kahoot/Quizlet: Through games and quiz where results are recorded, students and even parents are able to monitor progress. 3. Seesaw: Encourage students to document their goals and progress through digital portfolios. They can upload photos, videos, and notes about their achievements and reflections. Edmodo: Leverage Edmodo's assignment and tracking features to help students set goals and monitor their progress. Teachers can create assignments focused on goal setting and check in on student progress.

A few of the events I supported and managed for my students includes: poetry festivals, talent shows, debate competitions, math competitions, literacy nights, and math nights for students and their families.

Eliciting student feedback is the hallmark of an educator who wants to consistently grow their impact on student learning. One class ritual I used was the "Kitchen Table Conversation." This ritual involved my students moving their desks into a big circle to share about their learning experiences. I ask students to share highlights from those learning experiences. Also, I ask students to reflect upon their personal and communal performances during the learning experiences. Also, I ask students to indicate where I could improve as an educator for subsequent lessons by pointing to the activities, content, and my response to students' needs during instruction. I encouraged students practice transparency with their feedback.
