Listening is very important to understand anything to learn and unlearn and in the social impact sector you need it a lot. Patience is also a must needed skill.

Connect yourself with perspectives that are not directly linked to your beliefs. Such exercise tends highly expand you critical view of importante issues on Social Impact.

there are two challenges here. One is the challenge of listening. To listen is importnat and often it is about location of power. Would you be able to listen to a person who is powerless than you? Would you listen to someone who is in adverse power relationship with you? The person might be making you feel guilty; or ask existential questions. The second challenge is to listen to different perspectives- especially one that you do not believe in. This is a real challenge. Sometimes you would feel to make the person stop; or to counter the person. If the person is persistent with own view, you may use loudness to control it; or the other person might use loudness. Either way, the cost is reasoning. What we need is do Sindhanai- reflection!

A tactical way to listen to different perspectives is to go on a "listening tour." Set a timeline (1-3 months is good) and identify your audience - is it internal employees? Customers? Partners? Local community members? Set out to speak with as many people as possible, budgeting time and money for quality listening, data gathering, and processing insights.

It's challenging to have a theory of mind understanding of others' perspectives, but focusing on how collaboration can determine what is added instead of what is removed is a good reframing to build motivation.

The Rhetorical Triangle is a great framework which can be complemented by the Four Cs of Communication (Clarity, Conciseness, Completeness and Correctness. Clarity: Make sure your message is easily understandable. Avoid jargon or overly complex sentences. Conciseness: Keep your message to the point. This helps to keep your audience’s attention and makes it more likely that they will remember your key points. Completeness: Provide all necessary information. Make sure to answer who, what, when, where, why, and how. Correctness: Make sure your information is accurate and that you’ve checked your work for errors, whether factual, grammatical, or otherwise.

It is a very important part of the social impact sector where, not only we are measuring them , but also learning for them to build new solutions and changes for the social impact. Assessing our work and sharing it with stakeholders so they can put resources in this is a very important aspect of the sector.
